The this week released Iceland’s parody video of Meta, the new name of Facebook Group and the corresponding Metaverse is actually really good. Starring the Chief Visionary Officer Zack Mossbergsson who gives a hilarious pitch for the “Icelandverse” which he describes as an “enhanced, actual reality without silly-looking headsets. He talks about the Icelandverse where they got water that’s actually wet, you don’t need to wear a headset, and where everything works without any internet connection. The Icelandverse exposes the absurdity of where the never changing quest for more & better technology leads us and how no virtual reality will ever replace the liberating feeling of exploring what the real world has to offer. No wonder that Iceland (and the team behind this Iceland promoting video) landed a viral hit that gives a very fun but not so silly reality check on what we would prefer in the near future. Why would we want to spend our days in VR when nature has already created the most exciting & breathtaking open-world experience of all time? I know what trip to (finally) book next year.
